Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) - Level II to manage and support our database systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability. The ideal candidate will have experience in database maintenance, installation, configuration, performance tuning, security management, and data integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and support for databases to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Conduct regular updates, patches, and upgrades to database systems to maintain security and functionality.
  • Install and configure database management systems (DBMS) and related software.
  • Ensure databases are set up according to organizational standards and operational requirements.
  • Continuously monitor database performance and resource utilization to identify and resolve issues.
  • Implement performance tuning and optimization strategies to enhance database efficiency.
  • Implement and enforce security measures to protect database systems from unauthorized access and threats.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and apply necessary patches and updates to maintain database integrity.
  • Manage and execute backup and recovery processes for databases to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to minimize data loss and downtime in case of system failures.
  • Utilize incident management systems (e.g., MHS ServiceNow) to log, track, and resolve database-related incidents.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues promptly to minimize operational impact.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, changes, and incidents.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on database performance, issues, and resolutions.
  • Work closely with network operations and other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and support of database systems.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on database status and address any concerns.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy by implementing and maintaining database quality assurance processes.
  • Conduct regular data validation and consistency checks to maintain high data quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, standards, and regulations for database systems.
  • Stay updated with the latest database technologies and best practices, recommending improvements as necessary.

Qualifications

Required

  • One or more of the following (IAT II)
    • CCNA-Security
    • CySA+ **
    • GICSP
    • GSEC
    • Security+ CE
    • CND
    • SSCP
  • CE: Associate (professional preferred) level certificate for supported technology
      • Examples Include:
        • Microsoft-MCSA: SQL 2016 (or most recent) Database Administration or equivalent as approved by the COR
        • Oracle- Oracle Database 12c (or most recent) Administrator Certified Associate or equivalent as approved by the COR
  • Four (4) years of progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalency.

Preferred

  • Federal Consulting Industry Experience Preferred
