Job Description

The position of Database Developer involves designing, developing, and maintaining databases to support business applications. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will create database schemas, optimize queries, and ensure data integrity. This role focuses on writing efficient code, troubleshooting database issues, and implementing best practices in database development. You will contribute to the enhancement of database performance and scalability, supporting the organization's data management objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for database design, development, performance tuning, and incident management, collaborating with network operations teams to support overall network infrastructure.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain databases to support applications, ensuring data integrity and performance.
  • Monitor database performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Assist in data integration tasks and support ETL processes to ensure seamless data flow.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of backup and recovery plans.
  • Help implement database security measures to protect data.
  • Collaborate with team members to gather requirements and troubleshoot issues.
  • Contribute to the documentation of database schemas and procedures.
  • Ensure databases are set up according to organizational standards and operational requirements.
  • Continuously monitor database performance and resource utilization to identify and resolve issues.
  • Implement performance tuning and optimization strategies to enhance database efficiency.
  • Implement and enforce security measures to protect database systems from unauthorized access and threats.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and apply necessary patches and updates to maintain database integrity.
  • Manage and execute backup and recovery processes for databases to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Collaborates with client and external stakeholders to guide the technical direction of data management.
  • Leads data centric solution and technical design and development efforts to enable enhancements.
  • Assists with estimating level of effort for completing requested features and capabilities.
  • Conducts research and troubleshoots complex technical challenges.
  • Performs hands-on advanced technical development work as required.
  • Guides Data Management Best Practices (Design, Models, Quality, Governance, Integration, ETL)

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS RDS.
  • Good understanding of database design, SQL programming, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and database monitoring tools.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve database-related issues.
  • Good communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Certifications: DAMA CDMP, AWS Cloud Data Engineer, Azure Data Engineer, ICP, SAFe SA

  • Experience With: Agile Software Development, Data Management, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, DevSecOps, BizDevOps, CI/CD Pipelines, AWS Data Tools & Services, Azure Dev Ops, Chrome/Edge/MS Office, MS SSMS, Liquibase

Preferred

  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or AWS Certified Database – Specialty are a plus.
  • Federal Consulting Industry Experience Preferred
