Job Description

 The Project Manager will serve as the point of contact (POC) for communicating issues, concerns, or problems that arise for specific projects within the Task Order for a federal agency client. The Project Manager will have decision authority, the ability to direct staff, and will represent the team in resolving all issues, concerns, or problems within the purview of the project. This role requires proactive engagement with the client, ensuring timely responses to questions, concerns, and comments about the project, and alerting the client to potential project issues. This position requires the ability to document requirements, summarize meetings, and guide the team to project completion. The position is a hybrid role with 2-3 days of onsite work required weekly.

 

Responsibilities

  • Drive day-to-day project management activities, ensuring successful project execution, using a standard project management methodology to guide projects in a consistent and organized manner.
  • Coordinate with the COR and project managers to provide regular project plans and schedule updates.
  • Maintain individual project schedules for various projects, ensuring timelines, resources, milestones, and checkpoints are appropriate and well-managed.
  • Ensure project plans and schedules are reviewed and updated regularly, with immediate notification to the COR of any deviations.
  • Prepare and deliver periodic formal status reports and more frequent informal status updates on each Task Order.
  • Draft, update, and maintain task order quarterly and monthly status reports, including detailed breakdowns of labor categories, WBS code, hours worked, milestones, deliverables, and financial information.
  • Prepare and deliver meeting minutes, ensuring timely review and approval by COR.
  • Provide ad hoc support for additional activities identified by COR, including generating levels of estimate (LOEs) or rough order of magnitude (ROMs) for specific requests.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication/change management plans tailored to user categories.
  • Define, plan, and implement the deliverables and tasks required for successful project implementations, including resource determinations, schedules, and project implementation plans.
  • Share best practices and product knowledge with peers and novice team members.
  • Provide user training via the Web or on-site regarding the effective use of the software and best practices.
  • Work closely with the development and technical support teams to resolve technical product issues, test new features, produce and maintain documentation, and report bugs.
  • Coordinate and assist the COR and existing program/project managers in risk management and risk registry maintenance.
  • Proactively alert the client to potential project issues and provide recommendations on risk mitigation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Math, Statistics, Operations Research, or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in project management, including managing multiple, simultaneous projects.
  • PMP certification required.
  • Experience in a software environment required.
  • Proven ability to define, plan, and implement project deliverables and tasks, including resource determinations, schedules, and project implementation plans.
  • Strong communication skills, in both oral and written form
