Job Description

NetImpact Strategies is seeking a talented Senior Network Engineer to support a local military medical center in Ft. Sam Houston, TX. This is a 100% onsite role.  

This position is designed to support requirements across all network activities. The ideal candidate would have subject matter expertise in network technologies and strategy for Local Area Network (LAN), Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN).   

Responsibilities: 

  • Regularly evaluate the performance of the LAN, WLAN, and WAN to ensure optimal operation, troubleshoot issues proactively, and implement solutions to minimize downtime. 
  • Implement and maintain network security protocols, including configuring and managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and network access controls to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with federal and military standards. 
  • Ensure detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and operational procedures is maintained 
  • Provide periodic performance reports, incident reports, and recommendations for network improvements to leadership. 
  • Serve as a technical mentor and resource for junior network engineers and technicians, offering training on network tools, best practices, and troubleshooting techniques. 
  • Coordinate and execute the integration of new network hardware, software, and technology solutions. 
  • Plan and oversee system upgrades to maintain compatibility with evolving technologies and operational needs. 
  • Ensure administrative functions of the contract (timekeeping, reports, etc.) are filed with the contract leadership per policy.   
  • Act as an on-site lead for all contractors in the branch as it pertains to monthly progress reports to document the status, performance, and compliance of the team's activities 

Qualifications

Required 

  • Master’s Degree/and or Equivalency (Bachelor’s degree+ (2) additional YOE/ HS Diploma + (6) additional YOE). 
  • Commercial (baseline) certificates: One form of a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) level certification.  
  • Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE) training and four (4) years of practical experience in a production environment 
  • Five (5) years or more experience in a major hospital supporting more than 100+ beds environment. 
  • Five (5) years of experience supporting a military production network. 
  • Ten (10) years of experience supporting LAN and WLAN activities. 
  • Designing and deploying a wireless network consisting of 1300+ wireless access points (WAPs).  
  • Ability to work onsite 

 

Preferred  

  • Previous Federal Consulting Experience
