Job Description

NetImpact Strategies is seeking a dedicated Systems Operations Lead to manage server, storage, and database systems administration across a Federal Healthcare Agency's IT infrastructure, including on-site, virtual, and cloud environments. This role is onsite in Bethesda, MD. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining high standards of system performance and security, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and leading the migration of IT systems to cloud platforms. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administration of servers, storage systems, and databases across multiple locations, including physical sites and cloud platforms like Amazon Cloud and Microsoft Azure. 
  • Ensure all systems are configured and maintained according to security regulations. 
  • Manage Active Directory domains, system and email accounts, user permissions, and perform system backups and restoration services for Windows and Linux-based servers. 
  • Automate operations to enhance efficiency across all managed workstations, maintaining hardware and software updates, including end-of-life management. 
  • Collaborate to plan and execute migrations of IT environments to FedRAMP Cloud Service Providers (CSPs), ensuring continuous monitoring and maintenance of cloud workloads. 
  • Develop and maintain a systematic tagging structure for organizing cloud resources. 
  • Serve as liaison for networking support, optimizing network performance and resolving network-related issues. 
  • Implement network initiatives, including Network Access Control (NAC) and network segmentation. 
  • Manage comprehensive patching processes for all systems, ensuring compliance with security standards and supporting ISSO staff in IT Continuity of Operations (COOP) testing and security assessments. 
  • Provide administrative support for specialized high-performance computing (HPC) clusters, virtual environments, and relational databases. 
  • Install, maintain, and optimize scientific software and applications, collaborating with Investigators and laboratory staff to address compatibility and optimization issues and meet evolving technical requirements. 
  • Foster a professional environment focused on communication and cooperation. 
  • Train and guide team members in best practices and troubleshooting techniques, managing project timelines and deliverables to ensure high-quality outcomes. 

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 
  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or a related technical field. 

Preferred Certification: 

  • ITIL Foundation Certification or higher for IT service management. 
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect for cloud-based systems management. 
  • CompTIA Network+ or similar certifications for networking knowledge. 
  • Previous federal consulting experience
