Job Description

NetImpact Strategies is  seeking a Security Operations Engineer who is highly skilled and proactive, with expertise in monitoring, detecting, and responding to cybersecurity threats. This individual should be experienced in using security information and event management (SIEM) tools, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and incident response protocols to safeguard enterprise systems and data. With strong knowledge of threat hunting, vulnerability assessments, and security compliance standards, they should be adept at investigating security breaches, performing root cause analysis, and implementing proactive security measures. This role requires a commitment to continuous improvement of security operations, automation, threat intelligence, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure a secure IT environment. 

This is on site role, located in Bethesda, MD. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and execute an annual process to identify computers, mobile devices, and printers requiring replacement per agency lifecycle policies. 
  • Provide recommendations for replacement hardware and ensure specifications meet customer needs. 
  • Assist in planning hardware and software purchases compliant with agency policies and standards. 
  • Ensure endpoints, including computers, mobile devices, and printers, are configured in compliance with agency security regulations (e.g., encryption, vulnerability management, CDM agents). 
  • Manage endpoint management systems (Microsoft MECM, JAMF) to automate deployment, updates, and security patching of operating systems, Microsoft M365, and third-party applications. 
  • Apply critical, high, and moderate security patches to servers and enterprise infrastructure in accordance with InfoSec Policy Handbook. 
  • Automate deployment of patches and maintain a list of exceptions for systems requiring manual intervention (e.g., scientific or clinical systems). 
  • Provide regular reports on security patch compliance as part of monthly status updates. 
  • Monitor and ensure endpoint security compliance with vulnerability remediation requirements. 

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field. 
  • Relevant Experience: 3-5 years of experience in security operations, incident response, or cybersecurity roles. 

Preferred

  • Previous Federal Consulting Experience
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
