Job Description

NetImpact Strategies, Inc. is seeking to hire a Senior System Administrator to support a Federal Healthcare Agency. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and securing enterprise IT infrastructure, ensuring system performance, and supporting compliance with federal IT security standards.

This role is located 100% onsite in Falls Church, Virginia.

An active Secret Clearance is required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, sustain, and troubleshoot server operating systems and infrastructure, ensuring security, integrity, and availability through maintenance, backups, performance monitoring, and documentation, while supporting upgrades and evaluations.
  • Manage LAN/WAN connectivity, ensure secure IT circuits, and support quality of service (QoS) for Video over IP (VoIP), streaming, and other prioritized Government traffic.
  • Provide on-site support for performance monitoring, issue response, and daily IT management tasks. Maintain documentation, assist with network security, implement IT projects, and support IPv6 transition.
  • Align with agency continuity of operations (COOP), manage disaster recovery actions, conduct periodic testing, and maintain contingency plans. Ensure emergency communication, personnel accountability, and continuity of essential IT services.
  • Perform routine software/hardware upgrades, patches, and preventive services per agency policies, documenting changes and scheduling outside operational hours. Notify users 24 hours before impact.
  • Respond to outages, degradations, and security threats. Provide on-call support, execute emergency plans, notify users, submit SITREPs, and join after-action reviews.
  • Provide IT support, troubleshoot servers, ensure security, monitor performance, maintain documentation, manage patches, and support virtual machines.
  • Perform data backups, restorations, and replication, ensure security compliance, document processes, and test backup reliability.
  • Design, upgrade, and integrate systems, support key applications, implement security, troubleshoot issues, and test patches before deployment.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Certifications

  • Experience: Six (6) years of progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalency.
  • Active Secret Clearance investigation required.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite at the designated client location.
  • IAT II Certification as per DoD 8570.01-M guidelines, (CompTIA Security+ CE, Cisco CCNA Security, GIAC GSEC)
  • CE: Professional level certification.

Preferred Qualifications and Certifications

  • Advanced certifications such as Microsoft MCSE, VMware VCP-DCV, Citrix CCP-V, or AWS Professional-Level Certifications.
  • Previous experience supporting federal IT environments and working within DoD compliance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of networking, virtualization, cloud services, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools and automation.
  • Previous Federal Consulting Experience.
