Database Administrator - Microsoft SQL Server

NetImpact Strategies is seeking a skilled and motivated mid-level Database Administrator (DBA) to support our growing enterprise data operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server environments and a working knowledge of database services in both Azure and AWS cloud platforms. This position will support the maintenance, performance tuning, and reliability of databases across a large-scale application portfolio.

Working closely with senior DBAs and development teams, the DBA will assist in the management of database systems, performance optimization, and implementation of operational improvements. A strong foundation in SQL Server, SSIS, and basic DevOps principles is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist in administering Microsoft SQL Server databases, including maintenance, backups, and monitoring.

· Support database deployments using Azure DevOps pipelines and basic CI/CD concepts.

· Participate in ETL processes using SSIS to support data movement and transformation.

· Contribute to performance tuning efforts by reviewing slow-running queries and analyzing execution plans under guidance.

· Assist in managing AWS cloud-native database services (e.g., Amazon RDS, Aurora) in collaboration with senior DBAs.

· Provide database support for development and QA environments, including refreshes and permission updates.

· Help maintain documentation related to database configurations, processes, and best practices.

· Participate in disaster recovery testing and backup strategy execution.

· Respond to database-related incidents and alerts; assist with root cause analysis.

Required:

• · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• · 3–5 years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• · Basic familiarity with Azure DevOps and pipeline-based deployments.
• · Experience working with SSIS for ETL tasks.
• · Knowledge of SQL query structure, indexing, and performance tuning fundamentals.
• · Exposure to cloud environments, particularly AWS database services such as RDS and Aurora.
• · Familiarity with database security, backup, and recovery practices.
• · Strong attention to detail and commitment to reliable, high-quality work.
• · Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• U.S. Citizenship is required
• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance

Preferred:

• Experience in regulated or government IT environments.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or AWS Certified Database – Specialty.
• Exposure to SSRS, PowerShell scripting, or NoSQL environments
• Previous Federal Consulting Experience
