Application Architect
Location: 100% onsite – Bethesda, MD
Clearance: Active Public Trust required

 

Overview:


NetImpact Strategies is seeking an Application Architect to lead modernization and cloud transformation efforts for a federal agency. This role focuses on legacy system redesign, cloud-native architecture, secure development, and technology evaluation in a fast-paced Agile/DevSecOps environment.

 

Key Responsibilities


  • Architect and oversee modernization of legacy systems into Python/Django and other modern frameworks.
  • Design and implement cloud-native applications using AWS services like Lambda, EC2, S3, and CloudFormation.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies including static site generators, search platforms (Solr, Watson), and COTS/open-source tools.
  • Develop secure, automated systems for API credential management and authentication integration (PIV/Active Directory).
  • Lead DevSecOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives for continuous delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Develop semantic web and Linked Data applications, including MeSH RDF integration using Java/Spring.
  • Mentor junior developers and collaborate across teams to align architecture with business and security goals.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical field.

  • Proven experience with full-stack development using Python/Django, Java/Spring, and related frameworks.

  • Deep expertise in AWS architecture and services, cloud-based development, and automation tools.

  • Knowledge of semantic web technologies, search integration (Solr/Watson), and MeSH terminologies.

  • Strong background in Agile/DevSecOps methodologies with excellent communication and documentation skills.
