Job Description

Our company is seeking an experienced Network Administrator II to manage and maintain the agency's Cisco-based network infrastructure. You will oversee deployment, configuration, support of routers, switches, firewalls, network cabling, and software-defined networking, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability. Your role ensures a robust and secure network environment that integrates with enterprise IT systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Cisco network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Manage copper and fiber network cabling and related infrastructure
  • Monitor and optimize network performance to ensure minimal downtime and efficient resource use
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to connectivity, performance, and security
  • Apply patches, updates, and security configurations to Cisco devices and cloud networking systems
  • Maintain thorough documentation of network configurations, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate network solutions with broader enterprise systems
  • Respond to network alerts and triage infrastructure incidents
  • Create and maintain network diagrams and configuration documentation for change and configuration management
  • Provide technical support for emerging network technologies, such as VoIP, wireless, data center, and SDN
  • Research and recommend new network technologies and improvements for organizational benefit
  • Handle hardware installation and configuration of on‑prem network systems

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
  • CCNP certification or at least 7 years of experience in LAN/WAN, wireless, VoIP, data center, and SDN administration
  • Proven expertise with Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls, including configuration and troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of network cabling infrastructure (copper and fiber)
  • Experience monitoring and optimizing network performance
  • Skilled at resolving complex connectivity, performance, and security issues
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with cloud networking in AWS or Azure
  • Experience with Cisco VoIP, wireless controllers, and SDN platforms
  • Knowledge of network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Center)
  • Proficiency with network protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, HSRP, GLBP) and Layer 2/3 technologies (STP, VLANs)
  • Experience producing configuration documentation and network diagrams using Visio or similar
