Job Description

Our company is seeking an experienced Tier 3 IT Support Engineer to resolve the most complex technical issues that cannot be addressed by Tier 1 or Tier 2 teams. You will maintain and enhance IT infrastructure reliability, performance, security, and compliance across on‑premises and cloud environments. This role includes deep technical troubleshooting, implementing automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), overseeing network and system architecture, and empowering lower-tier support through knowledge development.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform deep root-cause analysis and resolve advanced incidents related to network, server, infrastructure, and cloud systems
  • Architect, deploy, and maintain on-premises and cloud services (Azure, AWS), including VMs, containers (VMware, Kubernetes), and enterprise network components
  • Implement and enforce CIS benchmarks, STIGs, Azure Policy, and RBAC to meet federal security and compliance standards
  • Design, develop, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Azure DevOps, PowerShell, CLI, and integrate CI/CD pipelines
  • Administer identity and access management platforms, including Azure Entra ID, Active Directory, LDAP, ADFS, Intune, and Okta
  • Plan and execute system upgrades and migrations, monitor performance, and troubleshoot capacity, availability, and configuration issues
  • Implement backup, snapshot, replication, failover, and disaster recovery procedures for cloud and on-prem systems
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge articles to enable Tier 1/2 teams to resolve recurring issues
  • Provide administrative and engineering support for on-prem and cloud-hosted services, ensuring availability and performance
  • Configure Azure services (VMs, functions, networking, storage, databases) and logging/monitoring tools
  • Build and manage cloud data warehouse and analytics solutions using Azure Synapse and AWS Redshift
  • Integrate automation into CI/CD processes and administrative tasks to improve efficiency and reliability
  • Architect and implement single sign-on/MFA solutions with identity providers (Microsoft Entra, Okta)
  • Validate IT security requirements and provide SME support during solution design and implementation

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of senior-level IT engineering or support experience in infrastructure and cloud environments
  • Advanced proficiency with Azure and AWS compute, storage, networking, database, and monitoring services
  • Proven experience in IaC automation (Terraform, DevOps pipelines, scripting)
  • Strong background in identity and access management (AD, Entra ID, Intune, LDAP, ADFS)
  • Knowledgeable in security frameworks and compliance protocols (CIS, STIGs, Azure Policy)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to mentor or transfer knowledge

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal agency IT environments
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, VMware, CISSP, or comparable infrastructure/cloud credentials
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, and hyper-converged systems
  • Hands-on experience implementing disaster recovery strategies and conducting DR testing
